Fast forward more than ten years ago, Dros established himself as a leading landscape photographer, always trying to push boundaries. By using many unique techniques and planning exact sun, moon and star positions, he has amazed people worldwide with special photos.

Dros got his first accurate recognition for this in 2015 when he continuously photographed the milky way in the Netherlands. Pushing the boundaries of cameras and seeing what was possible in one of the most polluted skies in the world, Dros captured a unique image of his friend standing as a small silhouette on a hill with the milky way above.

Dros has done several other photography projects with great passion and planning, like Photographing the Fuego Volcano in Guatemala with the milky way galaxy coming outright of the volcano, Shooting a total solar eclipse in Chile with a silhouette of a person, telephoto spots of moonsets and moonrises exactly on top of famous buildings and many more. But not only did his specially planned shots catch the eye of people around the world. Dros’ other expertise consists of spectacular photo series from worldwide places.

In recent years there has been one particular passion project that Dros keeps expanding: His work from Kyrgyzstan, which has a very personal backstory: It is the home country of his fiancee Bermet. When Dros visited Kyrgyzstan for the first time, it was primarily to visit Bermet’s family. He immediately fell in love with the country, not only with the scenery but also with the warm welcome he received from Bermet’s family. He felt the warmth of the people everywhere. And he quickly discovered that this country had so much beauty to offer.

On his first visit, Dros captured many spectacular images on his first trip to Kyrgyzstan. They published an article called ‘The Untouched Beauty of Kyrgyzstan’, telling his story and showing the country’s beautiful landscapes (and people). Dros quickly became a ‘celebrity’ in Kyrgyzstan as all the locals kept sharing his photos and story. And there was a reason for that: Kyrgyz people are very proud of their country, especially its beauty. They want to show this to the world, and Dros’ photos allowed them to do just that.

When Dros visited Kyrgyzstan for the second time, he was caught by surprise as the Minster of Tourism welcomed him and personally thanked him for his contribution to positive tourism in Kyrgyzstan, and handed him an official certificate from the Kyrgyz government. Now, you’ll see lots of Dros’ Kyrgyzstan work in the country, on billboards, in government buildings and new high-end hotels in the capital of Bishkek.

Since then, Dros has visited Kyrgyzstan many times. He keeps exploring, and Kyrgyzstan has become one of the biggest ongoing photography projects.
