In 2016, Munzir lost his leg in a bomb explosion in Idlib, Syria, and sought treatment in Turkey. His wife Zeynep, pregnant at the time, gave birth to Mustafa, who was born without limbs due to her exposure to chemicals and medications. I met Munzir and Mustafa in January 2021 and was deeply moved by their story. With international attention from a photograph I took, they received medical support from Italy and now reside there.
A shepherd we came across while on a photographic trip in Erzincan, Türkiye said his cow was stuck in a dried-up bog and asked us for help on. We tried to help to save the cow but when we saw that it could not get out, we sent a friend to the nearest town by car to get a rope. Then we rescued the cow from the bog with the help of a car.
