Rony Zakaria, an Indonesian photographer, has built a remarkable career exploring the sociocultural and historical landscapes of his native country. Zakaria initially studied photography at Galeri Foto Jurnalistik Antara and further honed his skills at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. These formative experiences equipped him with a strong foundation in visual storytelling, enabling him to develop a style that intertwines documentary and artistic elements.

Early on, Zakaria was drawn to capturing Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, focusing on how history, religion, and everyday life intersect to shape contemporary society. This deep interest in his surroundings has fueled his long-term documentary projects and established him as a significant voice in Indonesian photography.
