Athanasios Maloukos was born in Lamia, Greece, where he spent his formative years. He studied Civil Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens on scholarships and later pursued studies in the Department of Anthropology of Religions at UCLA. He continues to live and work in Lamia, where he is also involved in the movie exhibition business.
From an early age, he developed a passion for travel and photography, which led him to explore some of the most remote places on Earth. Driven by a deep fascination with the “unknown,” he documents religious practices, rituals, and cultural expressions, capturing the essence of human spirituality. His work reflects a commitment to storytelling through visual narratives, offering an intimate look at sacred traditions and the ways people connect with the divine.
His photographic archive weaves a rich tapestry of diverse cultures, rituals, and indigenous traditions. Through striking imagery, he captures the depth of spiritual devotion, ceremonial practices, and the customs that shape human identity. By documenting these expressions of faith and culture, he highlights the intricate connections between belief, heritage, and community, showcasing the resilience and beauty of cultural diversity around the world.
