Julian Benedikt is driven by his passion: people, light and music. This can be sensed especially in his very own genre: the documentary. He grew up in an artist family in Neubeuern am Inn, but came to film through acting and music. While dancing in a discotheque in Munich, he was literally moved by a song, which turned out to be “Conquistadores” by legendary drummer Chico Hamilton. Fascinated by Chico’s personality and his artistic excellence, Julian decided to make his first film: ” Chico Hamilton – Dancing To A Different Drummer”. Julian thoroughly investigates culture, aiming to open and discover them. In his works, he creatively expresses characteristic features by exploring the oscillation between cultural similarities and differences. In filming, his images are not meant to present preconceived notions, but to gently sever the viewer from his opinions and ideas

BLUE NOTE – A STORY OF MODERN JAZZ
In the beginning of his cinematic journey, Julian Benedikt continued to deal with the subject of music and film and especially JAZZ. For his 3rd film „Blue Note – A Story Of Modern Jazz“ Julian received international acclaim and many awards. Another important milestone in his career was the production of a tribute to world-renowned photographer Helmut Newton: „SUMO“.
Beside long format films for television and cinema, Julian has produced and directed commercials and image films and different campaigns for commercial clients . He has worked with many of the most influential people in music, sports, art and economy, focusing on motor sport and soccer.
