Stefanie Dworkin

Stefanie Dworkin is a fine art photographer, documentary filmmaker/editor, and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Palo Alto, CA, with her family when she was thirteen.

Stefanie’s life-long dedication to photography began at age six when she borrowed her mother’s Kodak Instamatic camera to capture the world around her. This love for the visual medium grew stronger as she progressed into middle school, where she had the opportunity to study photography and video production, setting the foundation for her life’s passion and career.

Stefanie’s work has garnered international recognition, with her photographs showcased in numerous juried shows, publications, and private collections. Notable among these is an honorable mention in FotoNostrum’s “14th Annual Julia Margaret Cameron” exhibition in Barcelona, Spain, the front and back covers of Photo District News’ “Photobook NYC”, and the “Greetings from Coney Island” exhibition, Judge Sifton Gallery, Brooklyn Court House.

TV/Film credits include WNET/PBS’s “Treasures of New York:  The Flatiron Building,” commissioned project “From East New York to Skadden Arps: The Barry H. Garfinkel Story,” Robin Hamilton’s “This Little Light of Mine: The Legacy of Fannie Lou Hamer,” Laura Poitras’s award-winning “My Country, My Country,” and Rodney Evan’s Sundance

She teaches filmmaking, video editing, mobile video production, and photography workshops at the International Center of Photography and DCTV in New York City and offers private one-on-one training.

Stefanie earned a Master’s in Professional Studies from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and was awarded the Dean’s Fellowship.

She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She lived a year in France, studying the French language, culture, and art at the Université de Grenoble and La Sorbonne.

After over 20 years in Brooklyn, Stefanie splits her time between Brooklyn and Palo Alto, CA.
