Fausto Podavini - Xposure

Fausto Podavini

Born in Rome, Fausto lives and works in his hometown. He began his photographic journey first as an assistant and studio photographer to get increasingly closer to reportage photography, until he embarked on a freelance journey which saw him collaborate with various NGOs for the creation of some reportages in Italy, Peru, Kenya and Ethiopia. In 2009 he began a collaboration with the WSP Photographic Collective, and definitively joined it in 2010, where, in addition to the role of photographer, he works as a teacher of reportage photography. In addition to various works in Africa, South America and India, he has carried out important works on Italian territory such as a report on sport for disabled people, a work inside a juvenile prison and a work on Alzheimer’s. His career as a photojournalist and documentary filmmaker has been enriched over time by important international recognitions and collaborations with the most important international newspapers, culminating in the publication of two photographic books. He prefers medium-long term work which allows him to focus on and delve into the topics addressed in a unique way.

His career includes numerous journalistic and documentary works, with two major long-term projects: one spanning 4 years and another 6 years. He excels in both black-and-white and color photography, covering intimate, personal subjects as well as strictly documentary themes. His two most notable projects are distinctly different: one explores Alzheimer’s disease through an intimate lens, while the other documents social and environmental changes in Ethiopia’s lower Omo Valley due to Africa’s tallest dam.

His works have been published in the most important international magazines such as 6Mois, LeVie/LeMonde, GEO ES, Stern, Internazionale, Donna Moderna, Espresso, D di Repubblica, National Geographic, Days Japan, GEO Germania, GEO Francia, Neue Zürcher Zeitung Magazine and has exhibited in the most important cities such as New York, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Rome, La Gacilly,

He is currently carrying out two long-term projects; one on gender transition in Italy and the other on mosquitoes in the world. Once again two very different projects; one intimate and the other extremely documentary.
