Every day, we see the world through our own eyes. But what if we could see it through the eyes of others? That’s the vision of the Global Focus Project – a project that aims to provide a platform for photographers worldwide to share their unique perspectives.
OVERVIEW
The “Global Focus Project” Nomination Program is an initiative designed to honor and showcase the talent and innovation of photographers worldwide. The program aims to recognize an exceptional male and female photographer from each of the six continents: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, and Oceania. These twelve photographers will be invited to Sharjah and commended for their remarkable work and contributions to the photography realm.
Launched in 2023, the project, initiated by Xposure, seeks to celebrate the diverse perspectives and narratives shared by photographers worldwide. It emphasises that nominees must hail from one of the six continents and that their projects should centre around a story or issue originating from that same continent.

What is the Global Focus Project?
The Global Focus Project is aimed at highlighting photographers’ endeavours across six continents.
This project invites photographers from all genres, including fashion, documentary, street, editorial, portrait, and nature photography. Those selected will display their work at the Xposure International Photography Festival, promoting inclusivity and diversity. Additionally, photographers will be able to present their projects to a global audience and potentially have them featured in diverse media outlets.
It’s important to note that submitted projects must be centred around a topic originating from the same continent as the nominees, ensuring a regional focus and relevance.
The benefits of the Global Focus Project
The Global Focus project is an excellent opportunity for photographers worldwide to have their work seen and appreciated. Besides the project’s exposure, photographers can benefit from networking opportunities during the Xposure International Photography Festival.
Nominated and elected photographers will have the chance to meet other photographers, industry professionals, and influential people and learn more about the photo industry and the opportunities available. Photographers will also attend workshops and seminars to learn more about the craft and gain insight into the industry.
Nomination and Submission Deadlines
Nominations for the Global Focus Project must be made by 20 June 2025. Only appointed nominators with a recognised background in photography may put forward candidates. Each nominator is expected to submit proposals that reflect the project’s values of authenticity, diversity, and regional relevance.
All materials for selected nominees must be submitted no later than 15 July 2025 to ensure eligibility for participation in the Xposure 2026 festival.
Photographers cannot apply directly; participation is by nomination only. If you would like to be considered, we recommend engaging with a professional in your region who is involved in international photography networks or contacting Xposure to enquire about nomination pathways.
How to become an appointed nominator
You must first be registered as a nominator to nominate photographers in the Global Focus Photography project. To be appointed as a nominator in the Global Focus Project, a strong background in photography would typically involve a combination of education, experience, and expertise in the field. As an appointed nominator, you can nominate one, two or three photographers via the website. The nominations provided by the invited photography professionals will require two confirmations.
