Mediterranean - An Ocean of Life
Greg Lecoeur
Cradle of civilisations and crossroads of biodiversity, the Mediterranean is a small blue enclave between continents, covering barely 0.8% of the world’s ocean surface, yet it shelters more than 10% of the known marine biodiversity on Earth. A true hotspot, a refuge for heritage species, endemics, and countless threatened animals.
This exhibition reveals the unexpected richness and vibrant life of its ecosystems: dolphins, sperm whales, sea turtles, gorgonians, seagrass meadows… a world both abundant and fragile.
But this living world is under strain. Climate change, pollution, overfishing, maritime traffic… So many pressures weakening this jewel of our shared heritage.
This exhibition invites you to dive into that hidden world. To behold its beauty, to sense its vulnerability, to reconnect with life.
Because to look at the sea is not just to admire the horizon.
It is also to hear its whispers, understand its struggles, and commit, each in our own way, to protect it.
