Edges of the North
Mohammad Anabtawi
Edges of the North is a photographic journey into the untamed landscapes of Norway’s Arctic archipelagos—Senja and Lofoten. Located beyond the Arctic Circle, these remote regions are shaped by the meeting of sea, stone, and sky. Jagged peaks rise directly from icy waters, fjords cut deep into the coastline, and shifting light continually transforms the terrain.
The exhibition moves beyond documentation to reflect a personal encounter with silence, scale, and solitude in nature. Through expansive vistas and quieter, intimate moments, the images reveal the restrained power and raw elegance of the North. Snow-covered ridges glow under low Arctic light, while coastal villages rest in still fjords, suspended between reality and the surreal.
Rather than following a single narrative, the collection embraces the rhythm and variety of the landscape itself. It is a meditation on patience—on waiting for fleeting moments shaped by weather, light, and time—and on photography’s ability to hold them.
Edges of the North invites viewers into a space of contemplation, offering landscapes that speak not only of place, but of presence, stillness, and connection.
