Abdullatif Mohammad Hasib Younsou is currently in his final year of the Marine Engineering Technology programme at Sharjah Maritime Academy and has completed his required sea time. His experience on board vessels allowed him to observe the operational demands of the maritime profession alongside the distinctive atmosphere of life at sea.
In addition to his academic and technical training, Abdullatif is an award-winning calligrapher with a strong interest in visual arts. While at sea, he began using photography as a way to document his surroundings and experiences. Through this practice, he recorded everyday moments on board, presenting a personal visual account of seafaring life from a cadets perspective.
His work reflects a direct connection between his professional environment and creative interests, showing how visual documentation can be used to share real experiences without staging or exaggeration. In the context of this workshop, Abdullatif will share how photography can be used as a simple and accessible tool to capture and communicate life at sea, based solely on personal experience.
