Christoffer Relander is a Finnish fine art photographer whose work explores the connection between humans and nature through surreal, often introspective imagery. Best known for his in-camera multiple exposures, he blends analog precision with modern techniques to create layered photographs that feel both timeless and emotionally charged. Much of his work is influenced by memory, perception, and the natural world—a recurring theme in his series such as We Are Nature, Jarred & Displaced, and Double Days.
Christoffer’s creative process is often slow and intuitive, guided by curiosity rather than heavy planning. He prefers to work hands-on, using available light and everyday materials whenever possible. His approach invites viewers to look beyond the surface—to consider how emotion, place, and identity can merge within a single frame.
His photographs have been exhibited across Europe, Asia, and North America, and featured in various international publications. He has also collaborated with clients including Adobe, Nikon, and SES Satellites. Based on the Åland Islands, Christoffer works independently on both commissioned and personal projects. His visual language aims to be quietly powerful—introspective without being obscure, surreal without losing its human touch.
Christoffer Relander’s journey into visual art began through an early interest in street art, which led him to study graphic design and visual communication at Borgå Hantverks- och Konstindustri-skola (2004–2007). During his military service in 2008–2009, he discovered photography and soon after launched his own creative business. In 2012, his early in-camera double exposures gained international attention, marking the start of his career as a fine art photographer. Relander has worked with both analog and digital techniques, though he now primarily creates his surreal imagery using digital tools.
Double Days is an ongoing personal project by Christoffer Relander, created using the compact Ricoh GR III and IIX cameras. Captured in everyday environments—often during walks in nature or moments on the move—the double exposures are spontaneous, handheld, and unplanned. The series embraces imperfection and intuition, offering a raw visual diary that blends natural and urban elements. Through layered imagery, Double Days reflects on memory, routine, and the quiet poetry found in fleeting, ordinary scenes.
