Dmitry Ersler

Dmitry Ersler is a fine art and advertising photographer with over twenty years of experience. Born in Moscow and now based in Thailand, he began learning photography under the guidance of his father before completing formal training at the Moscow School of Art and Photography.

Known for his cinematic and colour-rich portraiture, Dmitry blends emotion and light with visual storytelling. His work often explores the boundary between the real and the imagined through precise composition and controlled atmosphere.

Alongside his early photographic education, Dmitry pursued academic studies in law at the Moscow Law University from 1998 to 2004. During the same period, from 1999 to 2002, he studied professional photography, laying the foundation for his distinctive approach to portraiture. His images are shaped by clarity of vision and technical finesse, often drawing on theatrical sensibilities and narrative depth.

Dmitry’s work has been published widely and recognised through numerous international accolades. These include the LensCulture Critics’ Choice Award and an International Photography Award in the Family category (2021), the PX3 Paris Photography Award in Portrait (2023), and recognition as a finalist in the Hasselblad Masters (2024). In the same year, he also won the IPA One Shot competition.

The Destination. A symbolic image: Once a wanderer, now abandoned — an old truck fades at a dead end.

Dmitry’s photography merges artistic elegance with structured design. His work is characterised by strong lighting, colour harmony, and a carefully curated sense of mood. His portraits, while staged, remain emotionally accessible, inviting the viewer to engage with the subject through a constructed yet authentic lens. With a visual language that bridges fine art and commercial imagery, Dmitry’s photographs resonate with audiences across disciplines.

He has held several solo exhibitions in Bangkok, including Narrative at Play Art House Gallery and Portrait of Self at SAGE Fine Art Gallery in 2023, followed by a major showcase at 333 Gallery in 2025. His international group exhibitions include Pushkin’s Russia at Tver Regional Art Gallery (2018), Gala of Photography at Design Center Linz, Austria (2019), ImageNation Paris at Galerie Joseph (2024), and Scenes from Real Life at LoosenArt Gallery in Rome (2025). Each show presents his evolving voice within the global photographic conversation.
