Greta Rico

Greta Rico is a Mexican documentary photographer, visual artist, and educator focused on issues of gender, climate change, and food. Her work focuses on exploring new social representations in contemporary visual culture. Through her projects she reflects on the care economy, coloniality and the social trauma of current phenomena. Greta is a Leica Partner. A member of the Advisory Committee of Women Photograph, a Co-founder of Rosa Chillante and a proud member of Diversify Photo, Foto Féminas and Photographers Without Borders.

Greta has a Master’s Degree in Women Studies and is part of She Source, a panel of experts on gender issues from the Women’s Media Center. In addition, she has given conferences and Masterclasses internationally and has served as a project tutor in Mexico and Latin America. Greta has had more than 20 solo exhibitions in the American continent.

Her work has been published in magazines, print and digital media such as; Leica Photographie International, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Women’s Media Center, The HuffPost, El País and Lado B, among others. Greta has collaborated with UN offices and various civil society organizations. Greta’s photographic work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in Mexico and in cities such as; New York, Rome, Paris, London, Madrid, Quebec, Dubai, Tokyo and Valparaiso.

Greta’s photographic work is part of the National Museum of Health and Wellbeing Cultures – Kalan, the Photo Library Collection of the Alberto Beltrán Research and Documentation Center of the General Directorate of Popular Cultures of Mexico and the Mexican Photo-observatory.
