Liam Man

Liam Man is a British photographic artist whose work blends technology, storytelling, and the natural world. Best known for his use of drone-mounted lighting, he creates surreal, atmospheric landscapes that reimagine familiar environments with cinematic clarity.

Entirely self-taught, Liam has gained international recognition as a Sony and Epson Ambassador and was named Open Photographer of the Year by the Sony World Photography Awards. His work has appeared in National Geographic, CNN, the BBC, and the New York Times and has been exhibited across Europe, Asia, and North America.

Liam approaches landscape photography with a poetic sensibility, seeing the Earth not simply as terrain but as a subject with its own personality and emotion. His use of artificial light breaks from traditional reliance on natural conditions, enabling him to construct powerful portraits of wild places that feel intimate yet monumental.

Drawn to harsh and remote environments, he often works in extreme conditions, from freezing Arctic nights to perilous sea cliffs. Each image is a product of endurance, vision, and care, offering more than documentation. They are, in his words, love letters to the planet, evocative reflections on beauty, fragility, and wonder.

Liam’s recent project, Icebreaker, created in support of the United Nations International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, explores the disappearing cryosphere across Switzerland, France, Chile, and Iceland. Self funded and deeply personal, it highlights both the majesty of glaciers and the urgent threat of climate change. Selected for exhibition at the 2025 UN World Expo in Japan, the project blends art and advocacy, transforming awe into action.

Alongside his photography, Liam is a speaker and writer who champions the role of artists in driving environmental awareness. He believes visual storytellers have a responsibility to help society see more clearly, whether through documenting truth or revealing overlooked beauty.

Liam Man continues to explore the frontier between art and environmental responsibility. Through public talks, published articles, and exhibitions, he encourages broader conversations about the future of the planet and the role of creative disciplines in preserving it. His work demonstrates the unique power of photography to inspire reflection, empathy, and change across cultures and generations.

Recent exhibitions include Icebreaker at the 2025 UN World Expo in Osaka and the Royal Geographical Society in London. In 2025, his work was featured at the Tokyo International Foto Awards, the International Photography Awards in Moscow, and festivals in Glasgow, Chania, Chongqing, and Agrinio. Previous shows include Beyond the Mirror in New York, Wintertime in Wichita, Three Artists in Tucson, and the 2024 Sony World Photography Awards Winners Exhibition in London.
