Rashed Alsumaiti is an Emirati photographer known for exploring hidden worlds through landscape, wildlife, macro, and micro photography. Since beginning his photographic journey in 2009, he has developed a visual style that merges scientific curiosity with artistic expression. His work has been exhibited internationally and recognized through prestigious photography awards, including the Hamdan International Photography Award. Following his first solo Xposure exhibition, Dancing Crystals, he continues to push the boundaries of micro photography in his latest project, The Secret Landscapes of Alien Rocks.
Rashed Alsumaitis photographic practice is driven by a fascination with the unseen beauty of the natural world. Beginning with landscape and wildlife photography, his work gradually evolved into macro and micro photography, where he explores subjects invisible to the naked eye through extreme magnification and advanced imaging techniques. His images transform natural materials into surreal visual experiences that blur the line between science, abstraction, and fine art.
In 2026, Rashed presented his first solo exhibition at the Xposure International Photography Festival titled Dancing Crystals, showcasing microscopic photographs of salt and vitamin C crystals captured under polarized light. The exhibition revealed vibrant structures, textures, and forms resembling landscapes, organisms, and cosmic scenes, earning attention from regional media and photography audiences. He also loves sharing his knowledge and hosted a popular workshop at the festival teaching others the Art of Macro Photography workshop.
Rashed’s latest body of work, The Secret Landscapes of Alien Rocks, expands this exploration into meteorites and extraterrestrial minerals. Using polarized light microscopy and high-magnification techniques, he reveals ancient cosmic materials as luminous alien terrains filled with flowing mineral structures and celestial textures shaped over billions of years in space.
Through his work, Rashed Alsumaiti aims to create a bridge between scientific discovery and emotional visual storytelling. His images invite viewers to reconsider ordinary materials and natural objects from entirely new perspectives, revealing complexity, color, and beauty hidden beyond normal human vision. Whether photographing wildlife in remote environments or microscopic crystalline formations in the studio, his photography is guided by patience, precision, and curiosity.
Rashed’s work has been featured in newspapers, cultural publications, and photography platforms across the UAE and internationally. His projects were highlighted by publications including The National, Gulf Today, Sharjah24, and several regional media outlets covering the 10th edition of the Xposure International Photography Festival
His artistic approach combines technical experimentation with a strong sense of wonder, often transforming scientific subjects into immersive visual narratives. By exploring both terrestrial and extraterrestrial materials through photography. He enjoys expanding the dialogue between art, science, and nature.
Rashed continues to explore diverse photographic fields, moving seamlessly between sweeping landscapes, intimate wildlife encounters, and the precision of macro imagery. His projects are united by a desire to reveal beauty, encourage reflection, and celebrate the relationship between art and the natural world.
