Salim Amin is an acclaimed documentary maker, producer, author, and talk show host who has earned recognition as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and was named among New African Magazine’s “100 Most Influential Africans.” As the custodian of one of the most extensive African history archives, he passionately refers to his role as “the conservation of history.” Salim’s journey began when he took over Camerapix, Africa’s most renowned television production company, following the sudden passing of his father, Mohamed Amin, in 1996. Mohamed, a legendary photojournalist, had built Camerapix from a modest shop in Dar es Salaam into a global media powerhouse. Today, Salim carries forward this legacy, dedicating his life to documenting Africa’s evolving narrative and preserving its rich history. His highly regarded works include the documentaries Mo & Me, Revisiting Korem, and The Sound Man.

Currently, he is actively working on documenting Kenya’s history through interviews and features and overseeing the construction of the country’s largest history museum. Salim’s lifelong commitment to storytelling has established him as a leading figure in African media, capturing the continent’s diverse stories and sharing them with a global audience.

In 2019, Salim published his first book, KENYA: Through My Father’s Eyes, a stunning coffee-table book that showcases Mohamed Amin’s unique images of Kenya. This work represents the first historical book on Africa incorporating Augmented Reality, with 12 embedded videos that bring history to life on its pages.
