Tariq Rimawi is an independent Jordanian animated film director and academic. He holds a Masters degree from the University of South Wales and a PhD from Loughborough University in the UK, both in Animation. His films have screened at over 200 international festivals and won more than 45 awards. In 2016, he founded the Animation and Multimedia Department at the University of Petra. He currently works as Section Head of Multimedia and Video Production at Qatar University.
Tariq focuses on quiet, visual storytelling, often without dialogue. His short films explore themes related to childhood, war, memory, and displacement. He works with different animation techniques, including stop-motion, 2D, and 3D animation, and enjoys experimenting with form and movement to express emotion. Through his films, he aims to tell small human stories in a simple and honest way, using animation as a space for reflection and empathy.
