Vineet Vohra (b. 1973, New Delhi) studied Fine Arts at the College of Art, Delhi, before turning to photography. His early years were devoted to wildlife, but in 2001, he discovered street photography, which became his lifelong passion.
A largely self-taught practitioner, he developed an instinctive approach to documenting urban life. In 2011, he co-founded APF Magazine with his brother, providing a platform for emerging voices and non-commercial work. He later became the first Indian Leica Ambassador, a role that confirmed his global standing.
Vohra’s photography reveals beauty in ordinary situations. His work focuses on the dialogue between people and their environments, where fleeting gestures, play of light and subtle interactions create powerful moments. Composition is central to his practice, balancing colour, shape and timing with instinctive sensitivity. He embraces imperfections, allowing blur, shadows or unexpected alignments to add authenticity and emotional weight.
Street photography, for Vineet, is both discipline and discovery. He describes it as a process of constant learning and unlearning, one that demands honesty and presence. His images explore the interplay between transience and permanence, capturing moments that vanish in seconds yet resonate far beyond their fleeting time. By elevating everyday life into universal narratives, his photographs cross cultural boundaries, making the familiar extraordinary.
In 2011 Vohra co-founded APF Magazine, a platform committed to fresh talent and visual storytelling. He went on to become the first Indian Leica Ambassador and a Leica Mentor with Leica Akademie. His images have appeared in National Geographic, The Guardian, UNESCO and other international publications. He has authored several books including Serendipity (first and second editions), Along the Way… (2023), and Chiiz.
His career has been recognised globally. He received awards at the Xposure Festival, presented by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi. He has served as judge, lecturer and workshop leader in major festivals such as Miami, London, Italian, San Francisco and India Photo Festivals. He is also a Nominator for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award. With an international presence, his work continues to inspire new generations of photographers.
Vohra has been a mentor and educator for over a decade, teaching in leading Indian colleges and conducting workshops around the world. Before joining Leica, he was an official Fuji X photographer. He has exhibited widely in London, New York, Miami, Vietnam and Australia. He remains active in collectives such as APF and The Street Collective, reinforcing his commitment to education, collaboration and the development of global photographic communities. Notably, he rarely captions his images, preferring viewers to interpret them freely.
