Riccardo Magherini - Xposure

Riccardo Magherini

Riccardo Magherini is an Italian fine art photographer whose work explores the shifting boundaries of perception, memory, and space. Known for his layered and abstract compositions, he transforms fragments of experience into visual narratives that challenge conventional reality.

His images are constructed through a blend of traditional photography and digital experimentation. Drawing on modernist aesthetics and the rhythm of urban life, Riccardo captures not what is seen but what is felt. His work invites viewers to experience the city as a space of transformation and introspection.

Riccardo’s photography examines the dynamic relationship between space and memory. Rather than documenting what is, he reconstructs scenes that express the fluid nature of experience. Inspired by the emotional presence of architecture and metropolitan life, his images deconstruct reality to explore how we perceive and remember the spaces we inhabit.

Working with an intuitive and precise process, Riccardo begins with ordinary urban scenes. Through careful selection and transformation, each photograph explores motion and reflection. He duplicates, distorts, and rearranges elements to build compositions that feel suspended in time. These constructed environments reveal not fixed truths but emotional landscapes, where the tension between structure and impermanence remains central.

His images are not confined to a single interpretation. Each becomes a meditative encounter, drawing viewers into a world where meaning is suggested rather than declared. Riccardo’s work has gained attention for its ability to speak to the intellect and the senses. It presents photography as an evolving conversation between reality and imagination, presence and memory. Through this approach, he opens a visual space for contemplation and discovery.

Riccardo’s artistic vision is grounded in a desire to slow time and stretch perception. At the heart of his practice is an interest in how the built environment carries emotional weight. Cities are not just places to him but emotional containers filled with layers of memory and movement. By using photography as both a capture and construction tool, he transforms familiar spaces into poetic visual experiences.

His compositions are shaped through detailed post-production, where every gesture contributes to a visual language of disappearance and emergence. Architecture, light, human traces, and urban textures are woven together in compositions that are as much about absence as form. The result is a body of work that resists categorisation. It is technically refined and emotionally open, inviting, slow looking and personal interpretation.
