IFPA awards
This grant award aims to acknowledge and support the tireless efforts of independent and freelance photojournalists who strive to capture images that shed light on global news stories and raise awareness about impactful issues worldwide. Xposure is proud to offer a first-place cash prize of USD 15,000 to assist and empower the winning photojournalist in their ongoing mission to bring crucial stories to the forefront.
OVERVIEW
Photojournalism stands apart from other branches of photography due to its adherence to a stringent ethical framework, which requires work to be honest and impartial while telling stories strictly journalistically. Emphasizing visual storytelling over words, photojournalism upholds principles of free inquiry, expression, speech, and press, which are essential for effective functioning. Photojournalists play a crucial role in shaping news stories by collecting, editing, and presenting visual material for broadcast or publication. Visual documents must offer an accurate and fair representation of the scenes witnessed by the photographer. Thus, in addition to upholding ethical standards, pictures must not undergo alterations such as adding, rearranging, reversing, distorting, or removing people and/or objects from within the frame.

Each essay should consist of 12 images, and participants are encouraged to explore diverse subjects and narratives within their submissions.
Through this grant, Xposure aims to provide a platform for photojournalists to amplify their voices and contribute to meaningful storytelling that resonates with audiences worldwide.
