La Vie En Rose

"Why do you only take pictures of ugly life?". The truth is that even in conflict zones, I witness graceful moments, vibrant with life and humanity. Until my 7-year-old daughter asked me this question, I had simply not taken the time to look at them. The images are there, but they are not the ones that newspapers publish. Too offbeat, too light-hearted, they disfigure the cliché of war. Since then, I have been striving to deconstruct a binary vision of a world in black and white, to reveal its nuances its colors, its complexity.
And in these dark days, I think it’s even more important to be remembered that humanity is despite everything stronger that what we imagine and a privilege to witness.
So time, to wear our pink shaded glasses:
