Chasing Lightning and Thunderbolts

Salem Alsawafi

For years, I endeavored to photograph lightning and thunderbolts against a stunning natural backdrop. However, the scarcity of rain made this task time-consuming. I had to learn a great deal about weather conditions and meteorology, as without this knowledge, capturing such images would have been impossible. I spent many long nights awake, tirelessly seeking the perfect moment to take the photo. Despite numerous attempts, I often failed due to the difficulty of having the lightning and thunderbolts within the frame. However, each failure only increased my determination and resolve to succeed. These images are the fruit of many years of labor, a testament to an extraordinary journey in the world of natural photography.
