Isacco Emiliani - Xposure

Isacco Emiliani

Isacco Emiliani (1991) is an Italian photographer and videomaker, his work is based on long-term projects, often expressed in artistic form, which describe the environment and the relationship between man and nature.
He regularly works on commissioned projects oriented towards sustainability, protection and conservation with institutions, schools, profit and non-profit entities, and since 2021 with the Immagine Terra project he has been carrying out immersive photographic workshops.

Since 2016 he has been the author of the independent and continuous project Arctic Visions, a series composed of several collections to tell the story of the Arctic regions, raising awareness of their great beauty and fragility (White Finland, 2017; Prehistoric Norway, 2018; Native Alaska, 2019; No Mans Land Svalbard, Svalbard, 2020; Lost in Grønland, 2023).
In 2022 he published Ottantuno (ed. Nutsforlife), an art book in a limited series of 501 copies, with a preface by Jane Goodall dedicated to monumental trees encountered in seven years of night walks spent together with his grandfather Tonino.

This is one of the last images of Ottantuno, a project that from 2016 to 2022 saw me and my grandfather walking the paths of our land discovering the largest trees that are part of the Italian regions of Emilia Romagna and Tuscany.

We could only discover all this at night, so we made over 150 expeditions guided by the stars to tell the story of the power of trees, of our land and above all of the generational bond.
Today it has become a book, Eighty-One, with a preface by Jane Goodall.

The Guardian, Poplar of San Paolo in Alpe, Casentinesi Forest National Park, 2021

The Guardian, Poplar of San Paolo in Alpe. An important icon tree of this land.

Every evening that we went to photograph the trees we always looked for the ideal conditions to photograph them, that June evening, the sky promised rain and lots of clouds. The color of the June tree is unique, but to show that beauty through photography you must choose a particular evening.
It was the right evening, the sky brought out the textures of the tree in a unique way.
