Philippe Pottiez - Xposure

Philippe Pottiez

Philippe Pottez, a true globetrotter at heart, has explored and photographed the world
across all continents, immersing himself in the most remote locations. He masterfully
captures the essence of his native France, revealing its four cardinal points. Although he has
been passionate about photography for as long as he can remember, he began exhibiting his
work only a decade ago, showcasing his captivating images in France and abroad. His
enthusiasm for storytelling through photography shines in every frame.

In the 1970s, Philippe Pottiez found inspiration in the mining towns of northern France, where he connected with the warm and simple people who lived there. French, Maghrebis, and Polish communities coexisted harmoniously, and Philippe forged relationships, capturing
the essence of their lives. However, as the mines closed, this vibrant world began to fade. His series of photographs serves as a poignant testament to a bygone era, yet the spirit of the people endures. Through his lens, Philippe shares a humanistic perspective, inviting viewers to engage with the profound connections, understanding, and stories of his subjects. Each portrait reflects the unique experiences and places these individuals call home,
showcasing the resilience of the human spirit amidst change. His work not only preserves memories of a lost world but also emphasizes the importance of empathy and connection in our shared humanity.
